Fears

My worst fear appears to be coming true. I am a little over three weeks out and the scale has not moved since week one.

My new status!!

Well, I am no longer Morbidly obese. My BMI dropped below 40 to 39 this visit! Hey it's the small victories that count right!!

Other than that, I am still frustrated with the pace this time around, but I did expect it. I have only lost 7lbs since surgery. I need to get to the gym more often and push myself harder!

This weekend I did a 5k and reached my goal of getting in under an hour!!! 0:55:32 to be exact!! I am most happy!!!

Dr's Dr's everwhere!

Yesterday was a day of Dr's....

I had my yearly physical with my PCP as well as post op with him. That took forever!! Got a couple vaccines, blood work, pap, ekg, and assorted other stuff to keep me healthy!

Next I was off to get my hair cut! You see, I live out in the boonies, but all my peeps are in Columbus. Therefore I schedule lot's of stuff in one day!!

After the haircut I was off to the GYN for a test on my cyst. The good news is that it hasn't grown much at all. He did some blood work to be sure, but most likely we will just continue to watch it. Works for me!

Once that was all done I headed out for my 2 hour drive home with a stop at the grocery when going through town.

Got home, and was very tired, so headed to bed around 8pm. Once I was all settled in and had the TV going, my freaking sugar DROPPED.. down to about 55 I would say. Not good at all.. Not sure what is up with that, I have been off all diabetic meds for almost a year now.

Today I got a dz long stem pink roses from D.............. nice!

Give me a break!

I have to be the ONLY person in the TOGA study that had the procedure and is GAINING weight.. wtf?

It has been really strange... During the two week liquid diet preceding the surgery I lost a whopping 2 lbs... srsly! The week of the surgery I lost 10 lbs.. and the two weeks following I gained 5 lbs back.

I am really frustrated with the whole thing right now. All I can honestly do is keep up with the program, but it is getting hard to stay focused when things are not going as planned.................

Gym

Went to the gym for the first time last night. It was different...lol

I started on the treadmill, and each time I took a sip of water, I could feel it jiggling around. It made me a bit sick to my stomach, but it worked itself out. I didn't push it to hard, 18 minute mile and 2 minute cool down. Then I worked on my arms and upper back for a couple.

It actually felt good to have something other than food to focus on!

Out for the weekend, which of course means, packing, measuring and securing food to bring along.

I once was asked what I missed most about food. I think I have found the answer.... I miss the ease of grabbing food on the go. It was so not healthy, but much easier!

Weirdness

Well, it has been a week and boy has it been a weird ride.

I am still unable to swallow pills so I have been taking all kinds of children's liquid stuff.. Not the best, but it works just the same.

Still staying away from veggies and keeping things bland which seems to be helping! I have been on liquids for 4 weeks now and am so ready for some real food!! Not sure when that will be, but am ready none the less.

D picked up some protein powder for me to add to my liquids... yumm (not)

Other than the gas issue, I am doing great...! The scale is still not my friend, but I am ok with that right now!!!

Veggies bad...very very bad.....

Right now I am on liquids to puree type diet. Mostly the consistency of loose mashed potatoes...lol

On Sunday night I ran to the market to pick up a few things and thought that I would make myself some oh so yummy and healthy veggie soup. I roasted plum tomatoes, onions, garlic and baby zukes. I also steamed some spinach and carrots. All this went into the blender with home made chicken stock my mom made for me. It was really good!

I had it for lunch on Monday... it was not good. It caused so much excess gas on my stomach that I was literally doubled over in pain most of Monday night.

Needless to say, Tuesday is all about bland bland bland.. Protein shake for breakfast, cream of wheat for lunch and most likely mashed potatoes for dinner.................

We shall try again next week!

I'm back amongst the living!

Last week on April 27, 2010 I went in and really did have the TOGA procedure.!

Boy was this different than last time. I stayed in Cleveland the night before because A) I had some yukky meds to take, and B) It is a 2 hour drive my house. Woke up at 4:30 am on Tuesday and headed to the Hospital with my mom and met up with D. I was scared a little, but mostly OK. I had been dealing with all this for over a year, and was prepared for what lay ahead.

They took me back around 6:15am for the prep stuff. UH Cleveland being a teaching hospital, you don't get to just talk to the Dr's, but their 77 minions as well. About 7:30 they doped me a little and started to drive me back to the room. I remember rolling in, and I think moving to another table, I also remember them putting all kinds of blankets under my back and that is all folks...Until..... OMG I woke up very sick to my stomach, sore throat, and burning GI Track.

Thank god for drugs... They let me sleep until about 1:30 when they took me to my room! I will say that I slept through most of Tuesday and Tuesday night. The only waking moments I had were filled with stomach upset and sore throat. At some point they switched me to Morphine.... not a good idea. Apparently I am allergic! However, the swollen, painful face did not deter them from giving me three more doses before my Dr finely came in a saved me on Wed Morning!

The best part is that honestly I was pretty ikky for less than 24 hours! If it wasn't for the pain in my face and the groggy feeling from all the drugs, I would have been fine!

Thank god for D, my mom and all the well wishes!

Today I am feeling back to my normal self and ready to face the world!
